A simple stop at a gas station turned into a life-changing moment for a Batesville resident, who walked away with a $50,000 prize from the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery.
Lottery officials announced that Janice M. hit the jackpot playing “$50,000 Frenzy”, a popular instant game. She purchased the winning ticket at Casey’s General Store on Harrison Street and claimed her prize last week.
Janice wasn’t planning on trying her luck that day. While running errands, she decided to buy a “$50,000 Frenzy” ticket instead of her usual picks. She scratched it off in her car—and couldn’t believe her eyes.
“I thought, ‘Is this real?’” Janice recalled. To be sure, she had the store clerk verify the ticket before calling her daughter to share the exciting news.
“At first, I thought she was joking,” her daughter admitted. “Then she showed me the ticket!”
With her newfound winnings, Janice plans to pay off some bills and enjoy a well-deserved financial boost.
Since 2009, the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery has sold over $7.8 billion in tickets, contributing more than $1.4 billion to fund scholarships for students across the state.
