Gloucester Man Strikes $1M Jackpot with Massachusetts Lottery Scratch-Off

A Gloucester resident is celebrating a life-changing win after purchasing a lucky scratch-off ticket at Stop & Shop in Hingham.

Jason Marsh claimed the first-ever $1 million grand prize in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s Emerald Mine 50X game, which launched on January 7.

Rather than opting for a $50,000 annuity over 20 years, he chose a lump sum payout of $650,000 before taxes. Marsh shared that part of his winnings will go toward much-needed car repairs.

The Stop & Shop location at 400 Lincoln St. will also benefit from the win, receiving a $10,000 bonus for selling the jackpot-winning ticket.
