“I Knew It!”: Orange County Man Wins $100K on Scratch-Off

An Orange County man had a feeling he was due for a big lottery win—and he was right.

Terry McCall, of Efland, told his son just weeks ago that a big win was coming his way. That prediction came true when he scratched off a $100,000 prize on a $30 Millionaire Bucks ticket, the North Carolina Education Lottery announced Monday.

McCall bought the winning ticket at Graham Grocery on NC 54 in Graham—the same store he visits daily. He picked Millionaire Bucks because it had already brought him luck in the past.

“It was just my usual routine,” McCall said. “Earlier in December, I hit $2,000 on the same game.”

On Friday, McCall claimed his prize at lottery headquarters, walking away with $71,758 after taxes. He plans to use the money to pay bills and support his family.

The Millionaire Bucks game launched in October, featuring four $5 million top prizes and ten $100,000 prizes. So far, three $5 million prizes and eight $100,000 prizes are still up for grabs, according to lottery officials.
