A man wins almost $150,000 in the lottery using a ticket he forgot to buy

North Carolina mechanic wins almost $150,000 with a lottery ticket that he didn’t remember buying.

Gregory Warren, a Franklinville resident, told NC Education Lottery officials he bought a Quick Pick at a BP station on September 29. The jackpot for the Cash 5 ticket was $391,870.

Warren admitted that the ticket was soon lost in his mind and that he doesn’t buy lottery tickets often.

Warren was able to recall his need to verify his numbers after four days.

Warren said that he had forgotten about it. Later, he discovered that he had won half the $391 870 Cash 5 prize. Warren was able to keep $138,624 after withholding federal and state taxes.

I am still shocked. I didn’t sleep well last night. Too much excitement! He said.

According to the NC Education Lottery, your chances of winning a Cash 5 Jackpot are 1 in 962 5,598.

He now hopes to use the money for a new career.

Warren stated that he believes he will be starting a business mowing lawns for himself.

“I have a 14-year old son. I want to start a business so he can do something after he finishes high school.”

Half of the jackpot was won by Danielle Godette, New Bern.
