“I felt a sensation”: Burnaby woman wins $70M from B.C. The largest ever lottery win

It pays sometimes to trust your instincts. This is what a Burnaby woman discovered recently.

Christine Lauzon was snacking on peanuts when she got a suggestion from someone that she buys a lottery ticket.

The Lotto Max ticket proved to be more than a lucky draw. It was the largest ever lottery prize in B.C., with a payout of $70 million.

Lauzon stated,

“I felt that I needed to get tickets or something similar.”

Lauzon checked her ticket online from home and found she had won. She shared the news with her roommate, her father, and other family members.

She said,

“They were both so shocked and excited. My dad couldn’t keep his straight face.”

The ticket was purchased at a Shoppers Drug Mart located on Hastings Street, North Burnaby.

Lauzon stated that her first priority will be to talk to a financial advisor about how to spend the windfall. Then she will gift some of the cash to her family.

She said that she will take time to decide how she wants to spend the winnings.

The odds of winning Lotto Max according to the BC Lottery Corporation are 1 in 33,294,800
