Polish player wins €21 million Eurojackpot prize

A Eurojackpot player from Poland pocketed a jackpot worth more than €21 million (zl 96 million) to become the 9th winner of the top prize this year.

The lucky ticket holder matched all the numbers in the latest draw on 11 September. The winning numbers were 2, 5, 24, 43 and 45, plus Euro numbers 4 and 10. In total, 778,354 prizes were won across the 18 participating countries in 11 Sept draw.

While it was a splendid night for every winner, the glory belonged to the jackpot winner – who reportedly submitted only one random bet. The Polish National Lottery reported the next day that the winner had bought their entry in the Mazovian Voivodeship province. The exact location was not disclosed to help protect the player’s identity.

Poland joined the Eurojackpot in September 2017 and the country has already crowned a couple of big winners.

The first jackpot win in the Eastern European country came on 10th May 2019, when a player from Piotrków Trybunalski area landed half of a record-equalling €90 million (zl 193 million) prize. It was the largest lottery payout ever seen in Poland.

In 28th August Eurojackpot draw of this year, a participant from Finland pocketed €34 million.

Overall, Germany has been the most successful nation in 2020 by securing three jackpots, but the top prize has now been won in six other countries this year – Poland, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Italy, and Spain.
