Two Kitchener-Waterloo Residents Strike it Rich in Separate Lottery Wins

Two residents from the Waterloo Region are starting November with smiles after scoring big in recent Ontario lottery draws.

David Scott, a 64-year-old from Kitchener, pocketed $1 million after perfectly matching all seven Encore numbers in the October 18 Lottario draw.

The self-employed father of three said he was casually watching an NFL game when he decided to scan his ticket. “I thought the app was broken,” he laughed. “My favourite NFL team, the Cleveland Browns, and the Toronto Blue Jays both won that day — it was unbelievable!”

Scott calls the win “life-changing” and plans to use the money to pay bills, complete home renovations, and treat himself to a special birthday trip. His lucky ticket was purchased at A Quick Stop Variety on Doon South Drive in Kitchener.

Meanwhile, John Bald from Waterloo secured the second prize in the September 24 Lotto 6/49 draw, walking away with $161,638.60.

The 69-year-old husband and father says he’ll use his winnings to support his children and enjoy some well-deserved travel. Bald bought his ticket at Zehrs on Lincoln Road in Waterloo.

Both men say their wins have brought them renewed excitement — and a reminder that a little luck can turn an ordinary day into something extraordinary.
