To accept her $6.3 million wins in Lotto’s Powerball First Division, a woman had to walk around the block.
This was the second win for Tauranga’s woman who won a “couple hundred” in a previous Lotto draw.
The woman who would like to remain anonymous said,
“So I thought that I’d pick me up a ticket via the Lotto NZ App”
On Thursday, the woman was at work when she received an email from Lotto NZ informing her that she had won a prize.
“I thought, “another win?” Surely someone is keeping me on.
“But, I opened the app to check my ticket.”
“Seeing all the numbers on my ticket and the Powerball number spinning off caused my brain to go dark, and I started shaking uncontrollably.”
She went for a stroll around the block to collect her thoughts and then tried to stay busy for the remainder of the day.
I looked at my ticket every day that day and noticed that many numbers were birth dates and family members.
She was ecstatic to share the news with her partner, who was away at the time.
She slept very little and ate very little – she ate only a pizza to celebrate.
She laughed and said,
“That’s all I ate that morning.”
She is now looking forward to paying off her mortgage and setting up her family for the future.
The winning Powerball ticket, valued at $6.3 million, was sold by MyLotto. It was comprised of $6m from Powerball First Division as well as $333333 from Lotto First Division.
This is the 20th Powerball win so far in 2021. It comes just over a week following the $10.3 million Powerball win by a Tauranga couple.
